We at Durango Motor Company know that our success is 100% due to our fantastic community. That’s why we put our guests first and make sure that you have the most comfortable, seamless experience possible when you visit our dealership. However, something that may not be known is that we sponsor over 80 non-profit and community groups donating over $70,000 annually. Instead of having large ad budgets, we reinvest that money back into the community. It’s hard to write about all 80 sponsorships, so here are some of our highlights from 2020!
1 – Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Club has been around for over 150 years and helps more than 4 million kids each year nationwide. Their impact is huge. When attending the Boys and Girls Club, members are more likely to graduate high school, avoid risky behaviors, and develop good citizenship skills, all of which make a long-term positive impact on our society. That’s why Durango Motor Company has taken a special interest in working with our local chapter, the Boys and Girls Club of La Plata County.
Each year our funding goes to support programming geared towards academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles. Additionally, our contribution is doubled by the Toyota Match program, which is their way of supporting the communities of local Toyota dealerships.
2 – Women’s Resource Center
Assisting over 1,400 women each year, the Women’s Resource Center makes a huge contribution to our community. Their mission is the following:
“The Women’s Resource Center advocates for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of women and girls in La Plata County.”
While the typical events we sponsor weren’t able to happen due to Covid-19, we were still able to fulfill our annual $5,000 donation. Be on the lookout next year for some of their great events like Women’s History Month and Men in Heels!
3 – Adaptive Sports Association
Durango Motor Company is proud to be the premier annual sponsor of the Adaptive Sports Association. We have such amazing access to all things outdoors here in the Four Corners region, and ASA’s mission is to ensure that people with disabilities are able to take advantage of it. Every year they help by providing access to specially trained instructors and advanced adaptive sports equipment. It’s no secret that outdoor sports and recreation is healing to the mind and body, which is why it’s important to us that we help people of all walks of life to get outside and stay healthy. By the end of this year, Durango Motor Company will have contributed $15,000 to the Adaptive Sports Association!
4 – La Plata County Humane Society
We love our pets, and at some point in our life, most of us have a life-changing experience or relationship with an animal. However, sometimes pets end up in bad situations and can’t fend for themselves. This is why we feel the responsibility to help, and the La Plata County Humane Society gives us the opportunity to do this. Every year they rescue animals in bad situations, provide shelter to those that need a home, take steps to prevent animal abuse, and help pets find their forever home. Thank you La Plata County Humane Society, we are so happy that we can help with this noble cause.
5 – Durango High School Athletics
Last, but definitely not least, is the Durango High School Athletics Program. We believe that athletics and after school activities help to make school fun, provide more scholarship opportunities, keep students healthy, and set a foundation for their future. This year, Covid-19 proved to be a huge hurdle for contact sports athletes, which is why we purchased splash shields (face coverings) for the entire high school football team. This way they could still get out and participate for this season.
These are only 5 out of 80 sponsorships that we participated in this year. We find it so valuable and rewarding to give back to our community.
